Terms of Service for HorizonX

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of HorizonX ("Platform"), a cloud-based Integrated Research Environment (IRE) developed by HorizonX ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using HorizonX, you agree to comply with these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the Platform. These Terms are subject to change as we enhance our services, and continued use constitutes acceptance of updates.

1. Acceptance of Terms

HorizonX provides tools for collaborative research, data analysis, AI-driven insights, and cloud computing resources. By registering or using the Platform, you affirm that you are at least 18 years old, have legal authority to bind your institution (if applicable), and agree to these Terms. If using HorizonX on behalf of an organization, you warrant that you have the authority to accept these Terms on their behalf.

2. User Accounts and Responsibilities

To access certain features, you must create an account with accurate and current information. You are responsible for maintaining confidentiality of login credentials and activities under your account. Notify us immediately of unauthorized access or security breaches.

Prohibited Conduct:

You agree not to:

• Use HorizonX for unlawful purposes or to violate intellectual property rights.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disrupt the Platform's infrastructure.
• Upload malicious code, spam, or content infringing on privacy or ethical standards.
• Misrepresent affiliations or engage in harassment.

3. Intellectual Property Rights

Your Content:

You retain ownership of data, documents, and materials uploaded to HorizonX ("User Content"). By uploading, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, process, and display User Content solely to operate the Platform.

Our Intellectual Property:

All software, algorithms, trademarks, and documentation on HorizonX are our property or licensed to us. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without explicit permission.

AI-Generated Outputs:

Insights, summaries, or code generated by HorizonX's AI tools are provided "as-is." While you own outputs derived from your User Content, we make no warranties regarding their accuracy or non-infringement.

4. Data Management and Security

Research Data:

You are solely responsible for ensuring User Content complies with applicable laws, institutional policies, and ethical guidelines. HorizonX is not liable for data loss or unauthorized access, though we implement encryption, access controls, and regular backups.

Third-Party Integrations:

The Platform may integrate with tools like GitHub, Google Scholar, or cloud providers. Your use of third-party services is governed by their terms, and we disclaim liability for their actions.

5. Payment and Subscriptions

Paid subscriptions grant access to premium features (e.g., advanced AI models, HPC resources). Fees are non-refundable unless required by law. We may suspend accounts for overdue payments and reserve the right to modify pricing with 30 days' notice.

6. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

No Warranty:

HorizonX is provided "as-is" without warranties of merchantability, fitness for purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, accuracy of AI outputs, or compatibility with all devices.

Liability Cap:

To the extent permitted by law, our liability for damages (including indirect, incidental, or consequential) is limited to fees paid by you in the preceding 12 months.

7. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms, illegal activities, or prolonged inactivity. Upon termination, you lose access to User Content, and we may delete data after 30 days.

8. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
